The Executive proposed to raise only 100 million pesos in spending for the National Migration Institute
In its draft budget Expenditures for 2007 the federal government abandoned migrants, since they did not ask any weight for 14 of the protection programs for Mexicans Abroad.
In contrast, the Executive proposed to raise only 100 million pesos in spending for the National Migration Institute, and 10 million pesos to support the program for Mexicans facing legal proceedings.
The Commission on Population, Borders and Migration Affairs of the House of Representatives called on their peers budget additional resources 7 000 136 million pesos in order to reverse the lack of money in programs given priority among them include:
Supporting migrants in border municipalities, grants to young migrants, identifying bodies, arrest at the border, and support for people with HIV and tuberculosis.
"Calderón's commitment to migrants is zero dollars and zero cents," denounced the PRI deputy Edmundo Ramirez.
The projected total for 2007 to this branch is one thousand 341 million pesos, but lawmakers estimate that it takes at least 5 000 795 000 000 ideal for a total of 7 billion 136 million pesos.
